RESOURCES
Our focus on responsible resource use is a central part of our corporate strategy. We are constantly working to improve and optimize our resource use for the benefit of our customers, suppliers, and the environment we are part of. That is why we continuously review our internal processes to ensure that we make the very best use of our capacity. At our production facilities, we are dedicated to making full use of every single raw material. This involves not only minimizing waste but also finding innovative ways to utilize our products.
We can do a large part of the work, but we also want to engage our customers in this journey toward greater mindfulness. As part of this, we strive to inform our customers about the functionality of our products and the optimal preparation process. This information can range from guidance on proper storage and preparation to recipes and tips for repurposing leftovers. This way, everyone gets the most out of the products, minimizes waste, and keeps sustainability front and center.
We take responsibility—not just as a food producer, but as part of a larger ecosystem where our actions have a direct impact on the environment and the community around us. Through our focus on responsible resource use, we hope to inspire others to be mindful and take similar steps toward a greener future.

Our potato production generates large quantities of byproducts each year in the form of potato peels and rejected potatoes, as well as used process water that is no longer suitable for the washing stage of the production process. These byproducts represent a significant volume, which we actively seek to reuse and transform into a useful product.
Through a process involving crushing and the addition of the aforementioned process water, these residues are transformed into a pulp product. This conversion takes place on a scale that totals approximately 40,000 metric tons annually. This pulp product is a significant resource that we strategically supply to biogas plants located in our immediate vicinity.
By diverting these byproducts to biogas plants, we are directly contributing to increased production of renewable energy in Denmark. The biogas plants use the sludge to generate biogas, which can then be converted into electricity or used for heating. This recycling process is thus not only a way to manage our byproducts, but it also actively contributes to greater self-sufficiency in green energy in our country.
This practice is an example of our company’s commitment to sustainable operations and resource efficiency. By converting waste into energy, we make a positive contribution to both the environment and society as a whole, while reducing our own environmental footprint.

ENVIRONMENT & CLIMATE
We place great importance on our impact on the environment and climate. That is why we have implemented an environmental and climate policy throughout Flensted, with the goal of minimizing our impact on the environment. In 2019, we installed a state-of-the-art bio-boiler to produce steam and hot water, which we use in our potato production. This bio-boiler is a central part of our efforts to reduce CO2 emissions from our production by optimizing the use of wood chips as an energy source and reducing our consumption of oil and natural gas.
In 2019, we installed a state-of-the-art biomass boiler at our production facility. The biomass boiler will result in annual CO2 savings of 4,800 metric tons by replacing 2 million cubic meters of natural gas. This will be achieved through the use of biomass sourced primarily from our local area in West Jutland.
