RESOURCES
Our focus on responsible resource consumption is a central part of our company strategy. We continuously work to improve and optimize our resource consumption for the benefit of customers, suppliers, and the environment we are part of. Therefore, we continuously review our internal processes to ensure we utilize capacity in the best possible way. In our production facilities, we are dedicated to fully utilizing every single raw material. This involves not only minimizing waste but also finding innovative ways to utilize the products.
We can do a lot of the work ourselves, but we also want to engage our customers in this journey towards greater mindfulness. As part of this, we strive to inform our customers about our products' functionality and optimal preparation process. This information can include everything from details on correct storage and preparation to recipes and tips for reusing leftovers. This way, everyone gets the most out of the products, minimizes waste, and keeps mindfulness in focus.
We take responsibility – not just as a food producer, but as part of a larger ecosystem where our actions have a direct impact on the environment and society around us. Through our focus on responsible resource consumption, we hope to inspire others to be mindful and take similar steps towards a greener future.
In our potato production, large quantities of residual products are generated annually in the form of potato peels and sorted-out potatoes, as well as used process water that is no longer suitable for the washing function in the production process. These residual products constitute a significant amount that we actively seek to recycle and transform into a useful product.
Through a process of crushing and adding the aforementioned process water, these residues are transformed into a pulp product. This transformation occurs on a scale that collectively amounts to approximately 40,000 tons annually. This pulp product represents a significant resource that we strategically supply to biogas plants located in our local area.
By channeling these residual products to biogas plants, we directly contribute to an increased production of renewable energy in Denmark. The biogas plants utilize the pulp product to generate biogas, which can then be converted into electricity or used for heating. This recycling process is therefore not just a way to manage our residual products, but also an active contribution to greater self-sufficiency in green energy in our country.
This practice is an example of our company's commitment to sustainable operations and resource efficiency. By transforming waste into energy, we contribute positively to both the environment and society as a whole, while also reducing our own environmental footprint.

ENVIRONMENT & CLIMATE
We place great emphasis on our impact on the environment and climate. That is why we have implemented an environmental and climate policy throughout Flensted, with the goal of minimizing our impact on the environment. In 2019, we installed a state-of-the-art bio-boiler to produce steam and hot water, which we use in our potato production. This bio-boiler is a central part of our efforts to reduce CO2 emissions from our production by optimizing the use of wood chips as an energy source and reducing our consumption of oil and natural gas.
In 2019, we built a state-of-the-art bio-boiler in connection with our production. The bio-boiler will provide an annual CO2 saving of 4,800 tons by converting 2 million cubic meters of natural gas. This will be achieved by using biomass, primarily sourced from our local area in West Jutland.
